What is Christianity?
Christianity is not a religous philosophy, a set of spiritual teachings, or a list of rules that we have to follow, but Christianity is a loving relationship with God. Christianity is a life saving relationship, based not on what we do to earn God's love, but based upon the love of God for us, demonstrated through the sinless life, sacrificial crucifixion, and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ.
God is holy. That means He is perfect, pure, flawless and infinitely above mankind in His Being, attributes and abilities. The Bible declares that God made man in His image (Genesis 1:26) to worship and enjoy fellowship with Him. But man chose to follow his own ways rather than God's ways. Man is therefore imperfect, impure, and flawed and thereby separated from God by sin. Man's most important relationship is lost. All of mankind is affected!

~Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God....."

If the bible ended here, we would have no hope. BUT THERE IS GOOD NEWS! God, in His love, has made a way that we can be restored in relationship with Him.

~John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son....."

~Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

It was through God the Father sending His Son to die for our sins, that we have access to a restored relationship. It is God, through Jesus Christ, who lifts us from the otherwise inescapable place of hopelessness and sin. And only in this restored relationship do we find meaning and purpose in life.

~Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

~Ephesians 1:7 "In Him (that is Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace."

~Ephesians 2:8,9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the give of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."

The cost of our salvation is great. Our sinful lives deserve God's judgment of death. But Jesus takes our death penalty and punishment upon Himself and in death's place offers us the free gift of eternal life. We are forgiven and redeemed by God through Jesus' blood and His remedy for our incurable disease of sin is offered to us by grace. God's grace is His perfect and undeserved kindness freely, richly and abundantly given to the unworthy and undeserving. We can't work for or earn the gift of salvation by even religous living. Salvation is a gift of God. We receive this gift of His grace through faith: believing that Jesus is Lord and Savior; aknowledging and trusting that he died for each of us personally and that we must be saved to escape living apart from Him and ultimately being judged by Him.

Only by coming to Jesus by faith; confessing and forsaking our sin and asking Jesus for this gift of forgiveness and new life, can we be saved. We come to the Lord by faith in this way:

~1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

~Romans 10:9,10 "...that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

If you desire to enter into this relationship today, you must admit to God that you are a sinner. Tell Jesus you want to turn from your way and live in His way. Ask Jesus to forgive you, believing that Jesus Christ died for your sins. Trust by faith, Jesus at His Word. Call on Him and He will save you! Surrender your life into His hands. A Christian is one who knows that Jesus is their life, and apart from Him, we have no life.
